Propagation of ZZ Plant

ZZ plants can be propagated three ways. Propagating your plants is a simple and inexpensive way to add new ZZ plants to your home garden.

Division

To propagate by division, divide the rhizomes into clumps having at least one leaf stalk and replant the divisions in new pots filled with fresh soil. Once you’ve removed the plant from its pot, simply split the rhizome root system into two portions, and plant each in its own container. A good time to do this is when you are repotting.

Leaf Cuttings

To propagate using leaf cuttings, cut off a leaf stem containing at least two leaves from a mature ZZ plant. Plant the cutting at a shallow depth in a new container with a moist potting mix. Place them in a warm, brightly lit area and water occasionally. The cuttings will begin to form roots after several months.

Stalk

A faster propagation method is to cut off an entire leaf stalk at the base and place it in water until roots form.

Care of ZZ Plant

The ZZ Plant is a low-maintenance houseplant. There is not much you will need to take into account, aside from the water and light levels into account. Just fertilize in every six months and use pesticide for pests.
