How to Grow and Care for Parlour Palm?
Parlour palm is a deep compact indoor palm with attractive light green fronds. It is known as Chamaedorea elegans, is known for its lush, tropical fronds. It’s been a popular home plant since Victorian times, where it was shown off in the parlour, the best room in the house.

How to Grow
Parlour palms do best in bright, indirect light but it will tolerate a bit of shade. It needs a warm room – ideally around 18°-24°C, with a minimum of 10°C. If you are planting parlor palm in your garden or indoor, you can do it any time of the year. Plant the parlour palm plant into a mix of soil-based and peat-free, multi-purpose compost or into a pot with drainage holes. Water the surrounding soil properly.
If you finish, the top of the root ball should sit at the same level as the surrounding soil. Parlour palms do best when snug in their pot so only repot when rootbound in the plant. Repot into a slightly larger pot in the spring. You may need to do this in every three years.
Care for Parlour Palm
Water properly whenever the top few centimetres of compost have become dry. Ensure that the compost is moist but not soggy and let any excess to drain away. Water less in the winter, keeping the soil just moist. Parlour palms can tolerate dry air but it can turn the leaves into brown. Mist a couple of times per week to prevent this.
